My Story

Hi! I am Wes Logan. I am a 25-year-old Professional B.A.S.S. Angler from Springville, Alabama. My journey of becoming a professional angler was not an easy one. Even now, it’s a full-time commitment requiring personal sacrifice and a dedication to preparation. I began to form my incredible work ethic at a young age, spending time outside school and on the weekends practicing in pursuit of the ultimate goal: to compete at the top level as a professional Fisherman.

I started fishing before I learned to walk. Spending countless hours in the backyard, working on my accuracy by flipping and casting into a coffee cup. My dad, Doug, and I competed in our first team tournament together at Lake Neely Henry when I was just 5 years old. I fished them every chance I got. When my dad was not available, my grandfather, Ralph Lucas, would participate in them with me. As a young boy, I was able to fish against anglers that are professionals now, such as Scott Canterbury, Randal Tharp, Matt Herren, and Randy Howell.

When I reached 14 years old, I was able to fish on my own and with friends. However, I was not legally old enough to drive a vehicle, so my dad, grandfather or mom, Diane Logan, would launch the boat. At the age of 16, I was able to fish my first BFL Tournament at Neely Henry. My parents had to sign off saying that I could compete and I managed to finish 11th. The next year, I graduated from Springville High School and attended Gadsden State Community College. However, I chose not to be apart of the fishing team, but instead to fish more BFL's and eventually the Costa Series. While in college, I competed in another BFL on Neely Henry. I was blessed to come out on top and this allowed me to fish a Bama Division BFL. I successfully finished first and qualified for the BFL Regional. This was a huge step toward my dream of becoming a professional angler.

I graduated from college with an Associate Degree in HVAC and Refrigeration, continuing to fish BFL's. Eventually, I had the opportunity to fish my first Costa Series in 2016 and finished in the top 30 of the AOY standings. That next year, I decided to fish the Costa Series and the Bassmaster Southern Opens. I, fortunately, ended the season in 7th of the AOY standings for the Costa Series and 12th for the Bassmaster Southern Opens. Enabling me to fish my next season on the FLW Tour as a professional angler. As a rookie, I qualified for the Forest Wood Cup and finished 7th in the 2018 Tour season.

In 2019, I continued my second year of the FLW Tour while fishing the Bassmaster Central Opens. It is safe to say that last year was a better Tour season than this one. However, I had a fantastic season with the Opens. I made three Top 12 cuts and finished the season leading the Angler of the Year points. I received the option to compete at the next level as a Bassmaster Elite Angler. This has been a dream of mine since I was a boy, and it is finally coming true. I gratefully accepted the offer and will fish my 2020 season on B.A.S.S. Elite Series. No word can explain how unbelievably thankful I am that God has blessed me with such an opportunity. Of course, this is a short and sweet version on my long, hard journey. I will never say that it has been easy, but it has most definitely been worth it. I can not wait to see where this next year of fishing will take me.
